AIDA Freediving Instructor Course

The AIDA Freediving Instructor Course is particularly suitable for divers who aspire to work in freediving education and explore new fields. The course aims to cultivate freediving instructors with advanced skills, teaching ability, and safety awareness. The program includes three key components: theory, pool teaching, and open water teaching. The curriculum covers how to teach beginners, improve advanced students' performance, integrate teaching knowledge and teamwork, with a strong emphasis on safety rescue and risk management.


Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Completed CPR and First Aid training within the past two years

  • Hold an AIDA4 or equivalent crossover recognized freediving certificate


Course Content:

Theory

  • Operation of the online education system

  • Learning process

  • Communication process

  • Theory teaching

  • Conduct stretching trainings

  • Conduct breathing trainings

  • Confined water teaching training

  • Open water teaching training

  • Risk management

  • Planning marketing and budgeting

Teaching Practice

  • Teach theoretical classes: present AIDA theory courses

  • Teach confined water sessions: skill instruction and demonstration, identify and correct student issues in STA and DYN

  • Teach open water sessions: skill instruction and demonstration, identify and correct student issues in FIM and CWT

  • Lead stretching trainings

  • Land-based breathing training

  • Organize dive venues, set up ropes and knots

Freediving Research Thesis

  • Write a 1,500-2,500 word research paper on a topic related to freediving


Course Duration:

  • Theory: 8 sessions

  • Confined Water: 3 sessions

  • Open Water: 5 sessions


Graduation Requirements:

Theory Assessment

  • AIDA 2-4 exam

  • AIDA Instructor Course exam

  • AIDA Instructor Standard exam

Confined Water Assessment

  • Static Apnea (STA): 4:00–5:00 mins

  • Dynamic Apnea (DYNB): >90m

  • Dynamic without Fins (DNF): >50m

  • Demonstrate correct techniques in all skills

  • Demonstrate static rescue and dynamic rescue

Open Water Assessment

  • Constant Weight with Bi-fins (CWTB): 40–50m

  • Free Immersion (FIM): 40–50m

  • Constant weight without Fins (CNF): 20m

  • Slow CWTB: 30m (>1:30 min)

  • Slow FIM: 30m (>2:00 mins)

  • Solo rescue: 25m + 50m towing & rescue breaths

  • Deep rescue at 15m: 1:00 min hang + solo rescue

  • Stamina test: 5x20m CWTB with 1min interval and recovery breaths

  • Correct techniques demonstrated in all items

  • Correct demonstration of rescue actions
