Competition Information

Competition Date: March 16, 2025 (Sunday)

Time: 13:00 - 20:00

Location: Gymnasium of Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional, Macau SAR

Pool Specifications:

Indoor standard 25-meter swimming pool
Water Temperature: 27-28°C
Depth: Shallow area: 1.2 meters; Deep area: 2 meters; (6 lane pool)

Eligibility:

Participants must be 16 years old or above (For participants under 18 years old, parental consent is required).
Must present a valid AIDA Medical Statement (Download here) issued by a doctor within the past year.
Must be an active member of AIDA China or other AIDA National Active Members.

Competition Events:

The competition will consist of four freediving pool disciplines (STA, DNF, DYN, DYNB) conducted in accordance with international AIDA standards, and the results will be recorded on the official AIDA website.
Participants may choose any of the following events:
- Static Apnea (STA) / Dynamic Apnea (DYN) / Dynamic Apnea with Bifins (DYNB) / Dynamic Apnea without Fins (DNF)
Or Static Apnea (STA) + one of the dynamic disciplines (DNF / DYN / DYNB), total two disciplines.
(**cannot select two dynamic disciplines**)
If an athlete is considering attempting a World Record at this competition, they must notify the organizers at least three weeks in advance.
If an athlete is considering attempting a Continental Record at this competition, they must notify the organizers by March 7, 2025, at 23:59 (GMT+8).

Competition Quotas:

Static Apnea (STA): 24 participants in total for both men and women.
Dynamic Apnea (DYN) / Dynamic Apnea with Bifins (DYNB) / Dynamic Apnea without Fins (DNF): 36 participants in total for both men and women.
(Participants beyond the quota will be put on a waiting list)

15:00 - 16:00 - Competition briefing session (to be conducted online - Chinese)
16:00 - 17:00 - Competition briefing session (to be conducted online - English)

March 16 (Sunday):

12:30 - STA Athletes check-in
13:15 - Round 1 Static athletes Begin Warm-Up
14:00 - 15:10 - Static Apnea (STA)
14:30 - Only athletes registered for Dynamic Apnea will begin check-in
15:15 - Round 1 Dynamic athletes Begin Warm-Up
16:00 - 17:10 - Dynamic Apnea (DYN) / Dynamic Apnea with Bifins (DYNB) Competition
17:30 - 18:40 - Dynamic Apnea without Fins (DNF) Competition
19:00 - 19:30 - Announcement of results and application for appeals
19:30 - 20:00 - Awards ceremony and closing

20:15 - Celebration dinner (optional attendance)

Open Category (including local Macao participants)

  First, second, and third place for both men and women.
- Dynamic Apnea without Fins (DNF):
  First, second, and third place for both men and women.
- Dynamic Apnea with Fins (DYN / DYNB):
  First, second, and third place for both men and women.

Local Macao Category:
- Static Apnea (STA):
  First place for both men and women.
- Dynamic Apnea without Fins (DNF):
  First place for both men and women.
- Dynamic Apnea with Fins (DYN / DYNB):
  First place for both men and women.

Competition Format:

In accordance with AIDA rules (Version 17.7 — Jan 2025) (English Version - Download here)
Scoring method:
- Static Apnea (STA): 0.2 points per second.
- Dynamic Apnea (DYN-DYNB-DNF): 0.5 points per meter.
- To calculate rankings for dynamic disciplines with fins (DYN/DYNB), the DYNB score will be weighted by a coefficient of * 1.06(for male), * 1.14(for famale).
The competition results will be ranked based on total points.

Registration Fee:

The registration fee for each event is MOP$420 (RMB: $385 / HKD: HK$410). Upon successful registration, participants will receive an email notification with payment details. If the quota is full, participants will be placed on a waiting list.

Registration Method:

Please stay tuned to the Macau Freediving Association's official website on February 16, 2025 (Sunday) at 21:00 (GMT+8) for the online registration form link, which will be published on the event page.
All registrations must be completed with payment.
After payment, please email the payment record or bank transfer receipt to macaufreediving@gmail.com (please include full name in English).
Upon successful registration, the association will send an email confirmation to participants.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once payment is made, it is non-refundable.
The registration deadline is March 7, 2025, 23:59 (GMT+8), and no further registrations or changes will be accepted thereafter.
Requests for changes in AP requirements, competition events, etc., should be communicated to the organizers by email (macaufreediving@gmail.com) no later than March 7, 2025, 23:59 (GMT+8).
The competition briefing session will be held at 3:00 PM on March 15 (Saturday) and is only open to competitors and staff. Athletes can watch and ask questions via online streaming.
All participants must present the following documents for verification on the day of the competition:
i/ A signed AIDA Medical Statement (Download here) with a valid doctor's signature (valid within one year), confirming fitness for freediving.
ii/ Valid passport or Macao permanent resident ID card as nationality and identity proof.
iii/ Signed AIDA Liability and Assumption of Risk (Download here).

Competition Results:

The competition results will be announced and awards will be presented on the same day after all competitions are completed. The competition records of all participants will be published on the Macau Freediving Association's official website and the AIDA International Ranking official website.
